Taj Khazana, the in-house luxury lifestyle stores chain of Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, today said it is partnering diamond boutique Zoya to launch new collection of banarasi sarees and jewellery. Taj Khazana and the diamond boutique Zoya are both from the house of Tata. "The launch is a part of our endeavour to employ and empower rural weavers and artisans from Banaras," Taj Khazana Chief Operating Officer Sarita Hegde Roy told PTI here. It is an initiative for the revival of rare Banarasi weaves that serve as a means of providing sustainable livelihoods to thousands of artisans as well as preserving the rich art and craft legacy of the country, she added. "Taj Khazana's revival collection has been showcased through trunk shows in major cities and at all Khazana stores. This meant, keeping the looms alive and ensuring continuity," Roy said. The Taj khazana has always strived to provide market access and opportunities to artisans and weavers as they did not have easy access to market, she added. Taj Hotels handloom weaver's project that started six and half years ago initially involved creating hand-woven saris for all luxury hotels of Taj. The luxury lifestyle stores chain will also be opening its new store in Goa by the year end, taking the total number of stores in India to 13, Roy said. Taj Khazana showcases and stocks artifacts and collectibles created by master craftsmen of India and also has a selection of garments, stoles, shawls and accessories from handpicked Indian designers. Taj Khazana stores are present in select Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces which are part of the Tata Group. Source: Indian Express
