An unflattering portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II has been displayed in public in Liverpool. For 60 years, the painting was under an unofficial ban because of its dissimilarity to the queen. Currently it can be seen in the historical St George's Hall, which houses the city concert hall and court. The Queen was portrayed with an unusually long neck, which makes the image appear different from the real queen. The author of the Portrait of John Napper, who died in 2001, managed to paint another portrait of the Queen, with a neck of normal length. It still adorns the town hall Liverpool.
