On December 6, 1992, the century-old Babri Masjid was destroyed in an attack in Ayodhya. This led to violence all over India. 1,800 people were killed in this.

A total of 49 people were charged in the much-discussed case. 17 of them have already died. There are 32 survivors – most of them are senior BJP leaders.

The accused include senior BJP leader LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, BJP’s firebrand leader Uma Bharti and Binoy Katiyar.

Earlier, on November 9 last, a five-judge bench rejected the Sunni Waqf Board’s demand and ordered the construction of a Ram temple there. However, the apex court also termed the demolition of Babri Masjid as a “grave violation of the rule of law”.Source: https://www.daily-bangladesh.com/
