US President-elect Joe Biden has named Ron Klain, a longtime veteran of the White House, as his chief of staff, confirmed Democrats to the media.
Ron Klain served on the Senate Judiciary Committee in the 1980s as an aide to Joe Biden. The U.S. official later served as Biden’s chief of staff when he became vice president.
Klain served as his top aide in the White House during the Barack Obama administration. He has even served as Chief of Staff to Vice President Al Gore.
The White House Chief of Staff is responsible for setting the president’s daily work schedule. Sometimes the person in charge of this work is also referred to as the bodyguard of the president.
A president appoints his chief of staff in his political power. Senate approval is not required.
Respecting Ron Klein, Joe Biden said he was especially needed as White House Chief of Staff due to his deep, diverse experience and ability to work with people in spectrum politics. “We want to reunite our country from the critical moment we are currently facing,” he added.
Ron Klein, on the other hand, is grateful to President-elect Biden for trusting him with the power. “I will do my best. I look forward to helping him (Joe Biden),” he said.
