In the last 24 hours, 581,609 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 8,922 died from the pandemic. The United States has witnessed the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
As of Sunday afternoon (22-11-2020), a total of 58,494,754 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,386,570 while 40,467,900 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
The US, the worst-hit country in the world, has registered 1,460 deaths and 172,839 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country is still at the top in coronavirus deaths and infections. A total of 261,790 people died in the country due to the pandemic and 12,450,666 have been infected so far.
Mexico has registered the second-highest death toll of 719 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 100,823 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 1,025,969 as 6,426 new cases were confirmed during the period.
European country Italy reported 34,767 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 1,380,531. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 49,261 with 692 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.
In Poland, 574 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 13,288. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 843,475 as 24,213 new cases were confirmed during the period.
India has seen the fifth-highest death toll of 499 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 133,263. The total number of cases has exceeded to 9,095,908 with 45,295 new infections. The South Asian country has the second-highest number of active cases and ranks third in the COVID-19 death toll.
