Newly elected United States President Joe Biden has warned that more people could die if Donald Trump does not coordinate in forming the next government.
Biden made the remarks in a speech Monday from Wilmington, Delaware.
In his speech, Biden added that coordination is needed to deal with the coronavirus epidemic. He also called Trump’s refusal to accept defeat “extremely irresponsible”.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama has also spoken out against Trump’s decision to accept defeat. “It’s not a game,” she said.
Of the 538 electoral colleges so far in the November 3 election, Biden has 306 electoral votes - where candidates need 270 electoral for going to the White House.
But Trump is still stubborn, taking legal action. Despite knowing the sure defeat, he also tweeted on Monday morning, “I won the election!”
Due to these complications, the General Services Administration (GSA), which is responsible for handing over power to the winner of the presidential election, has not yet recognized Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris.
Once elected, the upcoming administration is usually given the opportunity to work on important government issues, however, that is not the case for Biden-Kamala.
Democratic Party aides say Trump’s role also means keeping Biden’s party out of the COVID vaccination strategy plan.
“It’s completely irrational,” Biden told a press conference about the Republicans’ refusal to accept defeat. “Does anyone understand the matter? It is a matter of saving human lives. Honestly, it’s not an exaggeration. If we don’t cooperate with each other, more people may die.”The United States has so far failed to address the issue of coronavirus outbreak. The country tops both the infection and death lists. The number of COVID cases in the country has exceeded 11.5 million. Of these, more than 252,000 people have died, according to worldometer data.Source: https://www.daily-bangladesh.com
