Trump ‘terminates’ defense secretary Esper

Incumbent United States President Donald Trump has fired defense secretary Mark Esper just days after the election.

He announced the decision in a tweet on Monday, according to the BBC.

Mark Esper was preparing to resign a week ago due to the deteriorating relationship with Trump. For months, relations between Trump and the White House have been strained.

Trump has appointed Christopher Miller as the new Secretary of Defense. Miller served as head of the U.S. Counterterrorism Center. He is known to be extremely trusted by Trump.

Although Donald Trump has lost the presidential election, he will remain in power until January 20.

Mark Esper opposed Trump’s decision to deploy troops to quell protests across the country during the “Black Live Matters” movement last June, as a result, the conflict deepens. The president also stopped talking to Esper. Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis resigned over differences with President Trump.

According to the BBC, after the election defeat, it was heard that President Donald Trump could fire some important ministers and some top officials of the White House at any time. His veracity was found on Monday. No White House staffer or Secretary of Defense Mark Asper, has commented on the dismissal. Source: https://www.daily-bangladesh.com/
