Capitol Hill violence death toll rises to 5


A police officer has died after being attacked and vandalized by the supporters of President Donald Trump at Capitol Hill, the US House of Representatives, as a result, the death toll from the violence rose to five.

The deceased was identified as Brian D. Sicknick. He died at 9:30 pm local time on Thursday. He joined the Capital Police Force in 2008.

Trump supporters rallied in front of the Capitol during a joint session of the US Congress on Wednesday to certify Joe Biden’s victory in the November presidential election. At one point, they involved in a clash with security personnel and breached the building, causing extensive damage.

Police statement on Wednesday said Sicknick was performing his duties during the violence and “injured by the attack of protesters on security guards”.
