Georgia clears debts to seven countries, including Armenia


As of August 2025, Georgia has fully repaid its debts to seven countries, including Armenia, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran and the Netherlands, Georgia Online reported on Wednesday, citing the Georgian Ministry of Finance.

By July 31, Georgia owed $516,000 to Armenia, $3.997 million to Russia, $1.139 million to Turkey, $636,000 to Kazakhstan, $585,000 to Azerbaijan, $427,000 to Iran and €12,000 to the Netherlands. These debts largely date back to Georgia’s early independence and were restructured in 2004 under a Paris Club agreement.Georgia’s total external debt stood at $9.1 billion as of August 31, 2025, with major creditors including the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and European Investment Bank.
