Bill Gates, the world-famous US billionaire and co-founder of Microsoft, and his wife Melinda Gates have decided to get divorced, with this, their 27 years-long marriage comes to an end.
They announced their separation in a joint Twitter message on Monday night.
In that Twitter message, Bill-Melinda said, “After examining and reflecting on our relationship, we have decided to end our marriage. We don’t think we can live as a couple anymore.”
The two became acquainted when Melinda joined Bill Gates’ Microsoft company in the late 1980s. They later fell in love and got married in 1994. In their 27-year-long marriage, the couple had three children.
The couple formed the ‘Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’ in 2000. They are both co-directors. The organization has been helping to fight infectious diseases around the world and bring children under vaccination. The organization spends $53.8 billion on a variety of projects around the world, including health and poverty alleviation.
